When you have to leave the one you love

No decision is more difficult than deciding whether or not the person you have been with, the person you know you once loved, is still the right person for you.

If you feel that it is going nowhere and that both of you are not growing, then it is time for you to think about how to leave someone you love.

There are many bad reasons to leave someone you love, here are some of them:

You are unhappy and it clearly because of the relationship

The good times are overweighed by the bad

You don’t see yourself spending your life with your partner. You don’t remember last when you spent some quality time together.

Your partner cheated on you, or you have lost your trust in your partner.

Your partner doesn’t treat you the way you deserve to be treated.

You’re no longer attracted to each other.

There’s a lack of respect from one or both parties.

You spend more time with your friends than you do with each other.

Okay, so here 8 practical tips to letting go of someone you love:

Remember that you cannot control everything: When you are thinking to leave someone you love, one of the few things that you have to remember is that you cannot control everything. You cannot control the weather or time. More importantly, you cannot control and change your partner. The only thing you can do is change your attitude about things and encourage your partner to be a better person. If you are leaving the person you love, remember that life is full of surprises and you cannot control everything.

Know that you did your best: It is normal to feel bad about leaving someone you love. You may feel guilty or you may think that you have wasted a lot of time and effort. But, for you to move on, you have to accept that you did all the best that you can do. You have survived fights and arguments and have always given another chance. You tried all possible ways on how to make things work. So, if it was going to end, then let things be.

Do it wholeheartedly: You have to be sure that you are 100%sure and there are no second thoughts about this decision. Remember that in your decision, a lot of people will get hurt including your partner and your families. When you are leaving a person, you are also saying goodbye to the life that he/she has shared with you. Think through it a lot of times before you make any move.

Be firm with your decision: If you are thinking of how to leave someone you love, you have to remember that there is no turning back. It’s a one-way road. What you are doing or planning to do is difficult and will hurt a lot of people. So, no matter how much they beg and apologize, you should still stand by your decision. You should remember why this is the best decision to make.

Give yourself time to get over: Leaving someone you love is difficult. Because you still have feelings for the person, you might even wonder why signs had to be this way. It would be impossible to move with life as nothing happened.

Maintain a safe distance: When you finally left someone you love, learn how to maintain a distance. Cutting ties may seem difficult at first, but it will only help both of you to accept things as they are and heal the wounds quickly.

Utilise your energies elsewhere: if you have already discovered how to leave someone you love, this is time for you to channel your energies elsewhere. All the energy that was being sucked out of can now be used to pursue something more meaningful.

Remember that good things are waiting for you: Your past relationship made who you are now. It may be difficult to believe now, but these experiences made you a wiser, stronger, and better person. Look ahead and remember that life has a lot to offer.

It will be hard. It will be painful. It will stick with you for most of your life, but it’s the right thing to do.
