If God created the Universe then who created God?

Who created God?

Who made God?

Where did god come from?

Many arguments claiming to prove the existence of God have been proposed throughout the centuries. The response to many of these arguments, however, is: “If God created the world, what created God?” It suggests that certain arguments for God’s existence only push the question of beginnings one step further back. If everything in the universe has a cause, why does God get a free pass? Don’t we need an explanation for his origin as well? So, according to the Bible, who created God?

The Bible answers, nobody. Nobody created God. He has always and always will exist. He has existed “from everlasting.” The Bible tells us, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Science now confirms that time, space and matter had a beginning. The Law of Causation states that everything that has a beginning has a cause. Since everyone now agrees that the universe had a beginning, everyone should agree that the universe had a cause. However, many reject this argument for Divine causation, because they say the same rationale should apply to the designer that created the universe. The reason, “if the Law of Causation requires that God created everything, then, based on that same Law, who created God?”

Proverbs 16:33 – The lot is cast into the lap; every decision is from the LORD.

Matthew 10:29 – Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father

Matthew 10:30 – Even the hairs of your head are all numbered. The role of the dice in Vegas every one of them or in your board game at home and the tiny bird dying in a thousand forests are governed by God. That’s Jesus way and the proverbs way of saying there aren’t any details too small for his control. That’s his way of saying it from worms in the ground to stars in galaxies, God governs everything. Everything we observe in nature has a beginning. God, however, is in a different category and must be so. God is different from all nature and humanity and everything that exists, in that he has always existed, independent of anything he created. God is not a dependent being, but self-sufficient, self-existent. And this is exactly how the Bible describes God, and how God has revealed himself to be.

Why must God be this way? God says in Revelations 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End: says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Einstein’s theory of general relativity, which is now widely accepted and supported by observable evidence, established that time, space and matter all had a beginning and are all linked together. The dimension of time itself began with the rest of the universe. If God created the entire universe, he created time and the laws that apply to time. Therefore, He is not defined by or limited by the dimensions and laws He created. God, unlike the Universe, had no beginning, so doesn’t need a cause. God is the cause of everything we see in the four dimensions of time and space, God, by definition, is outside our four physical dimensions. The Bible tells us that God is the eternal, self-existing, uncreated Creator of the universe. As the Creator of time, God is outside time. In fact, God transcends the past, present, and future all at once. Therefore, God had no beginning in time (as we see it), and God didn’t need a cause.

Colossians 1:15-17 – He is the image of invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominion or rulers or powers – all things have been created through him and for him. He himself is before all things, and in him, all things hold together. God sees everything and if anything is about to happen that he doesn’t want to happen, then he just says stop. If it didn’t stop, he didn’t tell it to stop which means he’s got a plan for it. Snow, rain, cold, heat, winds are the work of God. It’s more logical to believe in an uncreated creator than a created one. Why? Because if God has a creator who bought him into existence, then we could ask “who created that God?”

Does the God who created God have a creator too?

Did someone make him? If so, then who created the one who created God? It seems that if you reject the possibility of an uncreated creator than you get thrown into an infinite regress of Creators creating Creators. So, God did not come from anywhere. No one made the creator of the universe. He had no beginning and will have no end. He is the eternal, self-existing being. He is so powerful!
