Quick Tips to look your Best when traveling this Season

It’s important to look good while traveling. We take a lot of photos and we don’t want to be unhappy about how we look at these lifelong memories at places we may never go back to. It’s also important to maximize all of your time at a destination and not waste a ton of time getting ready. So here are some effortless ways to look good while traveling. These simple tips will keep you looking stunning, no matter where you go!

Before taking off: First and foremost, simplify your beauty regimen down to the basics. Bring only the essentials. However, there are certain non-negotiable that you must include in your travel kit like Sunblock, Moisturizer, Night Cream, Eye Cream, Facial Cleanser, and facial wipes, Mineral water spray, Toothbrush, toothpaste, Oil blotting paper, Eye drops, Hand cream and Dry shampoo. The next time you buy your beauty products, keep in mind that department stores often have sample-sized products that are useful for travel, so be sure to ask for some for your future travels.

Back to Basic: While traveling, try wearing little to no makeup at all. Avoid wearing any kind of foundation, and instead, apply moisturizer/sunblock. Use moisturizer whenever your skin is feeling dry during the journey. No matter what the climate – hot, wet, dry, and cold, etc., moisturizing leads to healthier skin. Much of the reason why skin can get greasy is actually linked to dryness, so even if you think you’re in a climate wet enough to handle it, lather up! Don’t forget to keep your hands moisturized too.

Eating and Drinking Habits: Drink lots of fluids when you’re traveling, but be sure of what kind of drinks you consume. Water, herbal teas and juices are best. Avoid drinking too much soda, coffee, and liquors as they contain caffeine and alcohol. Too much of these can leave you feeling dry, dehydrated, and sick. Try not to eat too many salty foods as well, so limit the number of peanuts and pretzels you have.

No Touching: During the trip, keep your hands off your face. You’ve been busy going through public places and you may have touched some unknown bacteria during the course of the day. You don’t want that on your face like that can lead to breakouts or skin complications later on. You also don’t want to clog your pores with the oils and dirt from your fingertips.

Blot it out: A change in temperature can wreak havoc on your skin. This means that your sebum levels can get elevated, particularly when traveling in a humid place. While it may not be easy to constantly wash your face (as over-washing can dry out your skin, and further increase the production of sebum to compensate for the rapid loss), using a blotting paper can be a savior. Just a few days can have your skin looking fresh in no time!

Don’t forget to get some Rest: Watching too many back-to-back in-flight movies, or reading that novel from start to finish can cause you to feel tired. When you do nap, be sure to put some night and eye cream on. Put on a sleep mask to really help you maximize your downtime. If you didn’t get enough rest and you’re looking a bit bleary-eyed, simply apply some eye drops to lubricate and brighten them.

Hair Care: Always have a natural bristle brush at hand to avoid static electricity from ruining your luscious locks, and keep some handy stand-bys just in case you have a hair emergency. Hats can also hide those bad hair days if you need be. If you’re looking a little too greasy and disheveled, bring out your dry shampoo to ensure that you’ll land looking sleek and clean.

What to Wear: Make sure that you’re dressed in loose, comfortable clothing that you can move around freely in and your skin can breathe as well. Avoid anything too tight like fitted skirts of jeans, or something uncomfortable such as heels. Also, try dressing in layers so that you can either add or remove articles of clothing depending on the temperature of the place you are in.

Embrace the local salons: Let’s be honest, when you’re on the go, your hands and feet are probably what take the most beating considering you’re on your toes most times and carrying multiple bags from all the shopping and luggage. while we don’t recommend trying out skin treatments at unknown or local salons, when you’re in a new city, scope out the beauty treatments by opting for the regular mani-pedi. It’s not only a great way to get acquainted with the salon, but you’ll also be able to gauge the quality and hygiene there, too!
