“Give me your attention baby, I gotta tell you a little something about yourself, you’re wonderful, flawless, Oh you’re a sexy lady, but you walk around here like you want to be someone else.” -Bruno Mars
This amazing quote would make anybody feel good about themselves, nevertheless There are a lot of people in this world that do not know their self-worth due to what other people say about them; So many people walk around with low self– confidence because of simple words like ‘ugly’ and ‘fat’. Truth be told, everyone is beautiful in their own way. People think that being different is a terrible thing, as a matter of fact it is really a good thing as Suzy Kassem said “Being different and thinking different makes a person unforgettable. History does not remember the forgettable.”
Knowing that every human being was wonderfully made, we all should be aware of what come out of our mouth regarding someone that may look different from us;, as Saying one bad thing can ruin someone’s day which can be followedby that victim ruining someone else’s day and the chain of misery only goes downward from there; Instead of spreading negativity, everyone should try become a sower of positive seeds, spreading positivity everywhere life brings you.
Let me introduce you to three singers that come to love the skin that they were born in and went on to become role models.
Selena Gomez is a 24-year-old singer from Grand Prairie, Texas. Selena, who was born Selena Marie Gomez on July 22, 1992, is a very talented young lady. Today, she is a singer/songwriter, actress, fashion designer, executive producer and philanthropist. She first appeared on screen at 10 years old in the television show ‘Barney & Friends’ in 2002. She later became the star of the show ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ and was also one of the two main stars of the Disney movie ‘Princess Protection Program’ along with her fear friend Demi Lovato. Selena became a role model to a lot of people when she played these roles and sang. There was just something about her that many people loved. She has connected with many young children through her music and screen roles by letting them know that they are worth something no matter what anyone says about them. In her song ‘Fly to Your Heart’ she tries to make people understand that if they have their mind set, they can do anything. In her song ‘Who Says’ she makes it a point to let everyone know that no matter how many times that they are called names or are talked about, you are beautiful.
“All the people who knock me down only inspire me to get back up.” -Selena Gomez
“You can’t be afraid of what people are going to say… You’re never going to make everyone happy.” -Selena Gomez
“I realize everybody wants what they don’t have. But at the end of the day, what you have inside is much more beautiful than what’s on the outside.” -Selena Gomez
Demi Lovato is a 23-year-old singer from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Lovato, who was born Demetria Devonne Lovato on August 20, 1992, is a strong, beautiful, and brave young woman. Children and teens everywhere started looking Demi’s way after her roles in ‘Camp Rock’, ‘Sunny with A Chance’ and ‘Princess Protection Program’ along with her amazing singing career.
After a while, people started finding out about her having to deal with depression, can eating disorder, self-harm and being bullied which led to her going to rehab at 18. When she left rehab, Demi was stronger and braver than ever. She not only inspired children and teams but adults too were inspired by her. She wrote songs about the truth. Her songs made people feel beautiful and boosted their confidence. Lovato wants everyone to know that beauty has nothing to do with what you look like on the outside, but it is about what is on the inside.
“Your imperfections make you beautiful and they make you who you are so just be who you are, love yourself for who you are and just keep going.” -Demi Lovato
“I don’t have the body of a model or Barbie. My main thing about being in the spotlight with my fans is I want to be real to them… I’m happy in my skin right now. I’m not going to sacrifice my mental health to have the perfect body.” -Demi Lovato
Alessia Cara is a 20-year-old singer from Brampton, Canada; Alessia, who was born Alessia Caracciolo on July 11, 1996, is a beautiful and very intelligent young woman. Today, she is a proud singer and songwriter. Unlike Lovato and Gomez, Cara was not discovered through acting. She was discovered in 2011 after making her song ‘Here’ from her album ‘Know-It-All’. Her songs are about real things that happen in real life. She inspires a lot of people because she started to sing at a young age and people of many different ages can relate to the reality of the words of her songs. Cara’s songs teach people that being different is what make them beautiful. No one is the same and that is ok so don’t go changing yourself for anyone.
“There’s a hope that’s waiting for you in the dark, you should know you’re beautiful just the way you are, and you don’t have to change a thing the world could change it’s heart, no scars to your beautiful, we’re stars and we’re beautiful.” -Alessia Cara
